Sierra Spicer Therapy Services opened in 2022, as a virtual private practice based out of Thunder Bay, Ontario.  In my years working in mental health and addictions doing crisis work, community mental health, and therapy for non-profit organizations I noticed two things;

1. People had to wait entirely too long for services!

2. Holy moly were there a lot of underserviced people experiencing ADHD and/or trauma.

Alas, I graduated with my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and set straight to work.  I have been practicing the art of therapy as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) since October 2021! I am now offering individual sessions, ADHD coaching services and groups, in addition to treating trauma across the life span.

I've fallen in love with trauma work many times in my career.  It may sound a little silly to say I love trauma, but it's true! Witnessing individuals let go of suffering and find comfort in their everyday after experiencing trauma it is nothing short of inspiring. Seeing people break the cycle is just, wow.  I feel so lucky to have the ability to practice trauma therapy to help people find that kind of relief.

I have experience working with many painful issues like, sexual abuse, attachment trauma, adverse childhood experiences, PTSD, violence, crime, and grief.  I have facilitated grief support groups, and the Partner Assault Recovery program (PAR)  which is a court ordered group established by the Ministry of the Attorney General supporting offenders of domestic violence  to learn kinder, gentler ways of being.  On the flip side, I also have experience working with women who have experienced violence in relationships.

One of my most cherished career highlights has been supporting young people in secure youth corrections centers in Ontario. I had the privilege of working with young offenders helping them find hope, meaning, and belonging in their lives. All whilst working through some pretty traumatic stuff.

In my experience, things like homicide, violence, and severe substance use have something in common, at its core lies trauma and pain.  Let's be real, it's hard to "behave" when merely existing is painful.

As for deciding to focus much of my practice on ADHD.... well that's a recipe of lived experience and education and training. I get it. Trust me, I do!  I employ an interpersonal and skills based approach to help people hack their ADHD brains.  I get really excited about all things ADHD, thank you hyperfocus! I am an advocate for neurodiversity justice and equality! I offer ADHD groups, and individual coaching/therapy services to help people master their Ferrari brains!
